Today’s post is a bumper double edition where I’m giving you quick food photography lightroom tutorial demonstrating how to select images, colour adjust them and edit them, alongside a lovely simple recipe for a sourdough cheese toastie with my own lovely, homemade red onion chutney.
I’m going to keep it short today and let the video do all the talking. But first, here are the images before and after Lightroom, you’ll find the video below them!

Sourdough Cheese Toastie with Homemade Red Onion Chutney
By Gavin Wren
Serves 1
Uses a frying pan
Ingredients
2 thick slices of sourdough bread
5mm thick slices of cheese – I used emmental, but use anything you like
A few spoons of my red onion chutney
2 tbsp olive oil
Directions
Put the olive oil on a flat plate, then dip one side of each piece of bread into it. These oil-coated sides will be the outside of your toastie.
Spread the chutney on the non-oiled side of a piece of bread, then lay the cheese onto it. Keep the cheese slightly in from the edge of the bread, unless you want it to dribble seductively out the side of the sandwich. Place the other piece of bread on top, keeping the oil on the outside.
Transfer to the pan, cook for approximately 3-4 minutes, then carefully flip, using a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Your toastie is ready when the cheese has melted in the middle, so keep an eye for it softening, then dribbling.
Enjoy!
